💙 After their father could no longer receive the kidney transplant he desperately needed, two sisters decided to turn their heartbreak into hope for strangers.
Bethany and Hannah Goralski, sisters from Illinois, lost their father, Mark, in 2018 after his long battle with Crohn’s disease and kidney failure. Bethany had been ready to donate one of her kidneys to him, but sadly, his health had deteriorated too much for another transplant. 💔
Losing their father left a lasting impact on both sisters.
Just a month later, Hannah reached out to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Eventually, both sisters made the extraordinary decision to become living kidney donors. In March 2019, they underwent their surgeries just 24 hours apart. 🫶
Neither sister knew the people who would receive their kidneys.
They simply wanted to give two other families the chance their own family had lost — and hopefully spare them from experiencing the same heartbreak. ❤️
Hannah later shared that their father was someone who was always giving and helping others. For the sisters, donating their kidneys became a deeply meaningful way to honor his memory. 🕊️
Two sisters. Two strangers. Two life-changing gifts.
And one father’s spirit of generosity continuing to live on. ❤️🩹✨
