Every year, thousands of redheads gather in Tilburg, the Netherlands, for Redhead Days, a festival celebrating one of the world’s rarest natural hair colors, found in only 1–2% of the population.
The tradition began in 2005 when Dutch painter Bart Rouwenhorst advertised for 15 red-haired models for an art project. Surprisingly, 150 people responded! He welcomed them all, and the gathering eventually became an annual festival.
Today, the event features music, photography, workshops, food, and opportunities to meet redheads from around the world. Its famous group photo even set a world record with 1,721 participants in 2015.
The festival is open to everyone and celebrates diversity, friendship, and belonging.
❤️ What started as a search for 15 models became an international tradition, proving that sometimes the most wonderful things happen when everyone is welcome.
