Robert Majury, a retired New Jersey police lieutenant living in Naples, Florida, fatally sh*t and k*lled an 18-year-old man who had traveled hundreds of miles to stalk his 14-year-old daughter, Ava Majury, and was not charged under the state’s Stand Your Ground law.
Ava, who had built a following of more than one million people on TikTok, had been messaged obsessively since early 2020 by Eric Rohan Justin, 18, of Ellicott City, Maryland. Justin purchased her personal cellphone number from friends of hers in New Jersey and Florida and began calling and texting her after she blocked him. On July 10, 2020, Justin arrived at the Majury home armed with a shotg*n and fired it through the family’s front door before the weapon jammed. Rob Majury gave chase but fell and gashed his knee as Justin fled the property. Justin then returned and pointed the g*n at Majury, who sh*t and k*lled him on the front lawn.
“I was in fear for my family’s life, and I had to do what I had to do to protect my family, and I made sure of it,” Robert Majury said. Ava’s mother, Kimberly Majury, described the moment the shotg*n blast tore through the door. “When that sound went off, we knew what it was when we heard that loud boom,” she said. “I actually thought my daughter was d*ad.”
Under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, Majury was never charged in connection with the sh*oting. The case drew national attention to online stalking of minors, and the Majury family has said that even after the sh*oting, Ava faced continued harassment from another classmate at school.
