State of Mexico – On Wednesday, November 20, a serious multi-vehicle accident occurred at kilometer 59 of the Mexico-Querétaro Highway near Huehuetoca. A trailer truck traveling toward Mexico City lost control near the Jorobas intersection and failed to stop in time, crashing into a bank before colliding with five cars and a pickup truck. The crash blocked all three north-south lanes, causing a partial highway closure and major traffic delays.

Authorities believe wet road conditions from earlier rainfall may have contributed to the crash. Investigations into the exact cause are ongoing.

Emergency services quickly responded, treating several individuals at the scene for minor injuries. While no serious injuries were reported, some people were advised to seek further medical evaluation as a precaution.

Compounding traffic issues, a separate incident occurred at kilometer 95.5 near Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, where a tanker trailer spilled fuel, prompting a full closure of all lanes in that area.

Both incidents caused heavy congestion along the highway, and authorities are urging drivers to use alternate routes and remain patient as cleanup and investigations continue.

Officials are also reminding motorists to drive carefully, especially in rainy conditions, and maintain safe distances to help prevent further accidents.
