On October 25, 2026, Jet2 flight LS1226 from Tenerife experienced a dramatic landing at Birmingham Airport when the Boeing 737 swerved off the runway onto the grass while battling strong crosswinds. Dramatic video footage captured the aircraft veering sharply to the left onto the wet grass before the pilots managed to correct its course and steer the plane back onto the tarmac. Emergency services rushed to the scene as a precaution, but the aircraft was able to taxi safely to the stand under its own power. All passengers and crew members safely disembarked without any reported injuries, and airport operations faced minor delays while the airfield was inspected.
Aftermath & Operational Impact
No Injuries: Jet2 and airport officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members disembarked safely and normally via the air stairs once the plane taxied to its stand under its own power.
Regional Disruption: The incident was part of wider chaos caused by Storm Boelo, which triggered local power cuts, downed trees, and canceled train services across the West Midlands.
Live Footage: The entire event was captured by aviation enthusiasts on the Airport Action YouTube Livestream, showing bystanders reacting in disbelief as the plane veered.
