“I need to find a real job” – Phil Collins says goodbye to fans in emotional final concert

Legendary musician Phil Collins bid an emotional farewell to fans during his final concert at London’s O2 Arena, closing out a remarkable career spanning over four decades. Joined by Genesis bandmates Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, the 71-year-old joked that he would now need to find “a real job.” The concert marked the end of their ‘The Last Domino?’ Tour, which was delayed due to C0VID-19.

Collins’ health struggles have plagued him for years. After a 2009 neck surgery left him with nerve damage in his hands, he could no longer drum. Since 2015, he’s relied on a cane and sat throughout his final performance. His son Nicholas Collins took over drumming duties.

Collins first joined Genesis in 1970 as a drummer before becoming the band’s lead singer in 1975. His solo career in the 1980s propelled him to global fame with hits like “In the Air Tonight”. Despite health challenges, he remained dedicated to music, performing seated on stage.

Reflecting on his journey, Collins admitted he no longer practices at home, but fans continued to cherish his performances. His farewell concert marks the end of an era for one of music’s most iconic voices.
