Walmart is closing a batch of stores in 2025 — here’s the full list

Walmart is closing 22 retail locations across the US this year, including four in Chicago, due to poor financial performance. The company confirmed the closure of its Brook Road Neighborhood Market in Richmond, Virginia, on July 28.

Walmart spokesperson Felicia McCranie expressed gratitude to customers for their support.

These closures are part of Walmart’s efforts to streamline operations and focus on more profitable areas, amidst a broader retail trend of adjusting to changing consumer habits, particularly the rise of online shopping.

While the closures could impact jobs and convenience for local communities, Walmart continues to expand its e-commerce business and assure customers that nearby locations and online services will remain available.
