Latest Neil Diamond Has Finally Accepted His Parkinson’s Disease Diagnosis

In a candid interview on CBS Sunday Morning, legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond opened up about his journey with Parkinson’s disease, revealing that he has only recently come to terms with his diagnosis, which he received in 2018. Now 82, Diamond admitted he was in denial for the first year or two, focusing on work and refusing to fully accept the reality of the condition. However, he said that in the past few weeks, a sense of calm has settled over him, allowing him to accept his new reality and appreciate life more deeply.

Diamond shared that while living with Parkinson’s is far from easy, he’s learned to embrace his limitations and still enjoy fulfilling days. He acknowledged, “I don’t like it, but I’m still doing it,” emphasizing resilience and acceptance in the face of a chronic illness.

The interview also touched on A Beautiful Noise, the Broadway musical based on his life, which he described as both therapeutic and emotionally challenging to watch. Despite retiring from touring after his diagnosis, Diamond made a surprise public appearance at the musical’s opening, singing Sweet Caroline on stage. He affirmed that he can still sing, and remains grateful for what he called a “pretty amazing life.”
