New approval rating shows what Trump’s supporters really think of him 6 months into presidency

Trump’s new approval polls come off the back of a controversial few weeks for his administration
A string of new polls have revealed Donald Trump’s latest approval ratings, shedding light on what the public really thinks of their president.

It comes after a controversial few weeks in Trump’s administration as the world is still coming to terms with the aftermath of US’ missile strike on nuclear bases in Iran and the violent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Trump has introduced his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, leading to his very public bust-up with former ‘First Buddy’ Elon Musk which doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down, given the fact Trump has threatened to deport him.

And on the topic of deportation, comments Trump made about deporting US citizens after opening an immigration centre dubbed ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ in Florida have also left many people stunned.

The latest wave of approval polls have put a spotlight on what the US public makes of Trump’s latest actions… and he might not be too happy.

523 adults were quizzed between June 1 and 30, and it was found Trump’s national approval rating stood at 45 percent, while 52 percent disapproved of Trump.

That puts the president at a net approval of -7, which marks the worst net approval rating of his second term in office so far as the numbers seemingly continue to slip.

Despite many clearly being unimpressed with how Trump is handling things in the Oval Office, the president’s current approval rating still outperforms his own average during his first term, which was 41 percent at its lowest.

Newsweek notes that Trump still has strong backing from men, rural voters and those aged 50-64, but the poll suggests crucial swing voters are starting to turn on the president.

A separate poll released by Quinnipiac University last month revealed that just 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s work as president, while 54 percent disapprove overall.

Those who took part in the quiz were asked how they feel Trump has been doing on key issues such as the economy, immigration, and the Ukraine-Russia war.

With the latter, for example, Americans were not impressed with how the president has handled the conflict, with just 34 precent saying they approve of Trump’s methods.

Polling analyst Tim Malloy said in a statement: “As the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.”
