Kobe Bryant’s 22-Year-Old Daughter, Natalia, Graduates From USC With Honors

Nationwide — Natalia Bryant, the eldest daughter of the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, has graduated from the University of Southern California, marking a powerful and emotional milestone for the Bryant family. The 22-year-old received her degree from the USC School of Cinematic Arts this week, earning Cum Laude honors for her academic achievement. Her graduation serves as a poignant tribute to her father’s legacy and the resilience of her family following immense tragedy.

ABC 7 reports that Vanessa Bryant, Natalia’s mother and the widow of Kobe Bryant, proudly shared a photo on Instagram of her daughter in her cap and gown. Natalia wore a stole bearing the iconic “Black Mamba” logo, a symbol associated with Kobe’s fierce competitiveness and commitment to excellence. Vanessa captioned the post, “We’re so proud of you!” to which Natalia responded lovingly, “Love you!!!” The exchange reflected not only a celebration of academic success but also the deep bond between mother and daughter forged through unimaginable loss.

Kobe Bryant, a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and one of the most revered athletes of his generation, tragically died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others. The crash occurred in Calabasas, California, as they were en route to a youth basketball tournament. Kobe was 41 years old. The shocking accident devastated the sports world and left fans across the globe mourning the loss of a man who had become a global icon both on and off the court.

Kobe had retired from professional basketball in 2016 after a 20-year career with the Lakers. In the years following his retirement, he devoted himself to storytelling, filmmaking, and mentoring youth athletes — including Gianna, who had dreams of playing in the WNBA. In 2018, Kobe won an Academy Award for his animated short film Dear Basketball, and his post-NBA life had become defined by creative pursuits and his commitment to being a present and supportive father.

Since Kobe and Gianna’s passing, Vanessa Bryant has worked to uphold their memory through various philanthropic and public efforts, including the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, which supports underserved young athletes. Natalia, too, has carried forward her father’s legacy in her own way — by pursuing a degree in film and storytelling, an interest she shares with her late father. Her graduation from USC is not just a personal achievement, but a symbolic continuation of Kobe’s passion for creativity and education.

The ceremony and celebration were no doubt bittersweet, but they also served as a reminder of the strength and perseverance of the Bryant family. As Natalia steps into her future, she does so carrying the spirit of her father and sister — both of whom had big dreams for her. Her academic success and bright future stand as a testament to Kobe Bryant’s enduring impact as a father, role model, and inspiration to millions.
