A devastating tragedy struck Manitoba, Canada, on Thursday, when a horrific traffic accident claimed the lives of at least fifteen people.

A bus carrying senior passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near the town of Carberry, approximately 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg. The passengers were en route to a local casino.

Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Manitoba, confirmed the death toll during a press briefing:
“At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”

The crash is considered one of the deadliest traffic incidents in Manitoba’s history.

Emergency services responded immediately, and the survivors were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and heartbreaking, with first responders working tirelessly to assist the injured. The RCMP has asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward to aid the investigation.

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson offered her condolences to the victims’ families:
“This is a heartbreaking day for Manitoba. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”

The collision has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting local organizations and individuals to offer support to grieving families. A memorial is being planned in Carberry to honor those who lost their lives in this tragic event.
