Woman dyes her Great Pyreneese dog bright red so he won’t get stolen

A woman named Chloe made the unusual decision to dye her Great Pyrenees dog, Dandy, a bright red color to deter potential thieves.

This unique approach was done using pet-safe dye , ensuring that the process did not harm the dog or involve harsh chemicals like bleach.

Dandy, a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees, now sports a striking and highly visible appearance that makes him easily noticeable and less likely to be mistaken for other dogs.

By giving Dandy such a distinctive look, she hopes to discourage anyone from attempting to steal him, as his bright red fur would make him hard to hide or pass off as another dog.

The story quickly gained attention online, sparking discussions about the ethics and practicality of such a method. While some people supported her creative approach to keeping her pet safe, others were critical and accused her of animal abuse .

Despite the controversy, Chloe maintained that the dyeing process was harmless and that Dandy’s well-being was her top priority. The dye used is temporary and fades over time, allowing the dog to return to his natural coat eventually.

Her story went viral on platforms like Threads and Reddit, with many users expressing mixed reactions—some found it sad, while others saw it as a necessary precaution in areas where pet theft is common .
