A father honours a teenager who escorted his autistic son to prom

Teen Girl Asks Autistic Boy to Prom, and His Dad’s Post Goes Viral

A few years ago, Mike Larson shared a touching story on Facebook that continues to warm hearts. His son Jon, who has autism, was invited to prom by Maddi, a senior at Mike’s school. She met Jon through a club that connects students with special needs and wanted him to experience a memorable prom night.

Maddi went the extra mile—she wore Jon’s favorite color (orange), booked a table at a restaurant serving his favorite foods (chocolate milk, fries, and chicken fingers), and made sure to get his parents’ blessing before asking him.

Mike shared the story to support kids with special needs and celebrate kindness. The post went viral, receiving over a million shares. Maddi, now married, remains humble about the moment, though it’s become one of Mike’s most cherished memories.

“Thanks to Maddi, Jon had a night we never thought possible,” Mike said. “It gives us hope in the goodness of people.”
