In July 2020, Thomas Graves and his 11-year-old son, Owen, set out on a three-day hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. When they failed to return, a massive search began, but no trace of them was found. Thomas, an experienced hiker struggling with depression, had planned the trip to reconnect with his son. For three years, the case remained a mystery. In August 2023, trackers discovered their skeletons in a remote ravine, chained to a tree root far from any trail. DNA confirmed their identities, ending years of uncertainty but raising chilling new questions.
