Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks star Charlie Griffin has died in a tragic boating accident off the coast of North Carolina. Griffin, a former cast member beloved by fans, was traveling with his dog, Leila, who also perished.
Griffin was reported missing Sunday evening after leaving Virginia Beach en route to Wanchese, where his vessel was scheduled for repairs. When the boat failed to arrive by 11 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard launched a search. On Monday, authorities located the vessel and later found Griffin and Leila deceased onboard. The search for a second individual believed to have been traveling with him continued as of Monday night.
The news was confirmed via a post on Griffin’s Reels of Fortune Facebook page, which asked supporters to keep his family and friends in their thoughts and prayers. Griffin appeared on Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks from Seasons 2 through 5 and is remembered for his passion for fishing, his bond with his dog, and his spirited presence on and off the water.Check video below
