Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were once one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, known for their seemingly happy decade-long marriage.

Over the course of their marriage, they welcomed three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. To the public, the couple appeared to have a strong family foundation, but behind the scenes, problems were brewing.

In 2015, a day after their tenth wedding anniversary, they announced their separation, emphasizing in a statement their mutual respect and commitment to co-parenting their children, People detailed at the time.

He first sought treatment for his addiction in 2001, but his battle with alcohol worsened in the later years of their marriage. During a 2020 interview with the New York Times, Affleck reflected on the divorce, calling it the “biggest regret” of his life and admitting that his drinking had contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
