A tragic accident on the morning of Sunday, July 16, on the CE-060 highway between Caririaçu and Juazeiro do Norte, claimed the lives of an entire family from Várzea Alegre. Hérida Nascimento da Silva, Sebastião Cícero Gomes, and their 3-year-old son, Miguel, died when their car fell into a 5-meter-deep stream near Sítio Piripiri. The family was on their way to Juazeiro do Norte for a surgical procedure for Miguel. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, raising concerns about road safety in the region.
