What Happened During the UVU Event?
Kirk, 31, was speaking at an open-air event under a white gazebo in UVU’s quad — a bowl-shaped courtyard — to an audience of about 3,000 people.

At approximately 12:20PM local time, while responding to a question about gun violence, a single gunshot rang out.

Eyewitness footage shows Kirk recoiling in his chair with visible blood on his neck before chaos erupted.

“I heard a loud shot, a loud bang and then I saw his body actually – in slow motion – kind of fall over,” one eyewitness told reporters, per BBC News.

Kirk was rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle. Hours later, his death was confirmed in a post by Trump on Truth Social.

Kirk then referenced the horrific viral video of Zarutska being murdered on the bus, by a man who had 14 previous charges against him.

Kirk continued: “It really makes you wonder, why are we putting up with this? Why are we allowing so many people who keep committing these crimes to be released?”

He then turned his attention to the media, claiming that they had to be “forced” to cover the story.
