A Dairy Queen store is in serious trouble after posting this controversial sign. What makes it even worse for some people? The owner refuses to apologize for it.

A Dairy Queen in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, gained national attention after a sign in its window went viral. The sign declares the restaurant “politically incorrect,” noting that staff say “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Easter,” and “God Bless America,” support the military, and give free sundaes to veterans on Veterans Day.

Owner Kevin Scheunemann said he posted the sign after a customer objected to Christian music in the restaurant. “It’s about transparency,” he said, adding that he hasn’t had complaints since putting it up.

The sign drew widespread attention only after a visitor from Oregon posted a photo on Facebook, sparking both support and backlash. Some praised the restaurant’s openness; others criticized the message as exclusionary.

Local business owners largely supported Scheunemann’s right to express his views, with one saying, “You don’t have to go in if you don’t agree.”

Dairy Queen’s corporate office distanced itself, stating the sign reflects the owner’s personal views and reaffirmed its expectation that all customers be treated with “dignity and respect.”
